Step into a welcoming Japanese home in the Tokyo suburb of Heiwadai to learn to make a classic food combo: sushi rolls and tempura. You'll roll two types of sushi: futomaki (thick rolls) and hosomaki (thin rolls), fry tempura and learn about dashi — a broth used broadly in Japanese cuisine — with a local host.
Mika, your friendly host, is a licensed chef passionate about Japanese home cooking. She will share her best insights and teach you about ingredients and techniques!
In this class, you'll prepare sushi rolls using nori seaweed, Japanese short-grain rice, seasonal vegetables, tamagoyaki (Japanese rolled egg omelet), and crab-flavored fish cake. Next, you'll fry perfectly crisp tempura and end the class by enjoying your meal with a refreshing ume sorbet.

Itinerary
-Meet your host and walk to her home, enjoying fresh air and conversation along the way
-Arrive at your host's home kitchen and learn the flow of the day over rice crackers and tea
-Learn how to make sushi rice and mix in the vinegar
-Roll two types of sushi using a bamboo mat
