Experience Details
Discover the fine ingredients and the specialty shops of Tokyo’s Tsukiji Outer Fish Market during this special food tour and cooking class. This experience is taught by a professional sushi chef, Ryoji Suzuki, owner of Michelin-starred Japanese restaurant named Suzuki in Tokyo. Trained as a sushi chef since the age of 29, your instructor is highly qualified in assessing fish and fresh ingredients. He will accompany you through the street of Tsukiji’s outer market, helping you to purchase produce to use during the cooking class to follow.
Despite the famous inner fish market having moved to the Toyosu area in 2019, the Tsukiji Outer Market is still busy on a daily basis. With over 400 shops and restaurants, it's exciting to wander through the market and look at traditional ingredients and kitchenware.
After a tour of the market to purchase your fresh ingredients for the class, you will return to the cooking studio. Located in the heart of Tsukiji, it’s the perfect place to learn how to identify and handle high quality fish with your sushi master. Armed with years of culinary knowledge (to such a high standard that has earned his restaurant a Michelin star for over 12 years in a row) you will make a total of 4 different dishes together with your sushi chef.

Experience Location
The early-morning bustle and the spectacle of seeing whole fish expertly carved right before your eyes, combined with an array of local delicacies, make Tsukiji Market a must-visit in Tokyo. While the Tsukiji Fish Market’s auction was relocated to Toyosu in October 2018, many of Tsukiji Outer Market’s street vendors and restaurants remained. Some shops and restaurants have been in business for over 100 years! And since the seafood sold at Tsukiji Market is delivered directly from Toyosu Fish Market, Tsukiji Market is still one of the best places in Tokyo for fresh seafood.
