Experience Details
Ramen noodles are a beloved staple across Japan, served in restaurants, celebrated in museums, and still handcrafted by local artisans.
Yokohama, a port city just a short train ride from Tokyo, is particularly renowned for its rich ramen culture. With the country’s largest Chinatown and the famous Cup Noodles Museum, the city offers endless ramen options.
What makes Yokohama truly special is its dedication to noodle craftsmanship and the passion of local makers eager to share their knowledge.
This experience gives you a rare chance to step inside a family-run noodle factory in Yokohama. Guided by a third-generation ramen expert, you’ll make noodles from scratch, choosing your preferred dough and cutting style.
After crafting your noodles, head to your host’s family home to prepare a complete meal. You’ll make a fresh salad with crispy sardines and tofu, fold gyoza, and finish your ramen with rich broth, tender braised pork, a soft-boiled egg, and carefully chosen toppings.
Sit down with your host to enjoy your creation, sipping sparkling plum wine or a soft drink, and end with a matcha dessert.
Throughout the meal, your host will share insights into what makes authentic ramen so special, giving you a hands-on understanding of Yokohama’s noodle culture.
