Experience Details
Served in restaurants, honored in museums, and still made by hand by local craftspeople, ramen noodles are a staple in all of Japan but a true classic in Yokohama, a port city only a short train ride from Tokyo. Home to the largest Chinatown in the country and an iconic cup noodle museum, the city oozes with ramen options, but what makes its culture truly unique is an unrelenting dedication to noodle craftsmanship — and an eagerness to share with the world.
This experience gives you the rare opportunity to step into a family-run local noodle factory in Yokohama, where you will cut noodles to your liking, guided by a third-generation ramen maker. You’ll then take your freshly made noodles to your host’s family home, where you’ll complete your feast by preparing a salad, making gyoza, and making a broth with toppings to complete your ramen masterpiece. Finally, you’ll sit down to enjoy your meal together in a family setting and continue learning insights about what makes authentic ramen so special from your expert host.
Experience flow:
-Visit a family-owned noodle factory and learn about ramen noodles, then make your own customized noodles with your choice of doughs and cutting blades
