Super Great time with Bruce, he ensured the evening stayed joyful, fun and engaging! It was not awkward and he was insightful, friendly and made us feel so welcomed! His warm and knowledgable approach made the food tour amazing for my family and I. Take note, I had 3 elderly and 5 adults! He managed it all with grace and poise and I thank you again for an evening to remember, SEE YOU AGAIN BRUCE! thank you

If you’re interested in checking out Yatai food stalls in Fukuoka, this is the way to do it! It’s also a great first-night adventure in the city because Bruce is extremely knowledgeable and shares generously. My partner and I spent 4+ hours with Bruce, and we’d do it again in a heartbeat. We walked all over the city and stopped in three different Yatai stalls, eating tapas/pintxos style. Every bite of food and each drink we tried was delicious. It was a great intro to Fukuoka/Hakata, and a perfect way to visit the Yatai stalls, which could be intimidating to navigate for the first time on your own.

Hakata yatais are WHERE IT'S AT and there isn't a better person to show you the best places to try out than Bruce. I came to know about Bruce through a Youtube video he did for Japan byFood, so I was fairly sure coming into the tour that we'd be well taken care of. And Bruce did not disappoint! The thing about yatais is that their operational hours and days can be very unpredictable, so you need a tour guide who really knows the yatai scene and is not wedded to following a specific plan or script. Our tour was set for a Sunday night, so when we met Bruce, he explained that, although he had a plan in mind, there was a good chance we'd need to improvise along the way because it was a Sunday night. He proved to be right, as we needed to pivot right from the start because the madam running the first yatai he wanted to introduce to us did not set up for the evening. We ended up hitting a total four yatais, which included Ultra C (great oden), "Riverside Restaurant" (cozy izakaya serving some righteous ramen), Tomochan (grilled skewer goodness), and finally Bar Ebi-chan (literally an awesome bar sitting in the middle of the street run by a very professional couple). We chatted, ate, drank and laughed throughout the evening. Before we knew it, we'd been touring for almost 4 hours. Time flew by so quickly. A sign of a great tour and a great tour guide. We'll see you again, Bruce!

It was a great experience. The matcha was of very good quality and the two women wo made the matcha and thought us how to do it were super kind and we had much fun talking to them. One of them was also very good at talking in english, so we would recommend this for foreigners also. We also felt very safe while learning the traditions of drinking tea - the hostes thought us with patience and calm. We would absolutely do it again because the hostes and atmosphere (and of course the matcha) were so great.

I’m visiting from the United States, and this was one of the most meaningful experiences of my trip. The hosts were incredibly warm, patient, and knowledgeable, and they made me feel truly welcome from the moment I arrived. They gently guided me through each step of the tea ceremony and shared the beautiful history and cultural meaning behind the tradition. I was especially touched by the care and intention behind every movement. It helped me appreciate how the tea ceremony is not just about drinking tea, but about mindfulness, respect, and connection. The hosts were also so kind to help me take photos so I could remember such a special moment. One of the hosts also provided me with a gift at the end for Goodluck, which I am very appreciative for. If you are visiting Fukuoka, I highly recommend taking part in this experience. It was peaceful, beautiful, and gave me a deeper appreciation for Japanese culture that I will carry with me long after my trip. <3

I was very happy that I chose the tea ceremony with Chihiro. She was very authentic and kind as a person, and everything went smoothly. It was a wonderful encounter with Japanese tradition as it is truly lived – not presented in an artificial or distant way, but in a very human, warm, and approachable manner, while still carrying a deep spiritual touch.

We had such an incredible time with Bruce! Without his help my husband and I never would’ve had the courage to attempt going into the yatai stalls by ourselves. Bruce made the process very smooth and comforting. He has incredible social skills, and he’s amazing at putting everyone at ease. He was so much fun to interact with. Plus he knew all of the best spots, and all the best specialty dishes to try—it was all just so perfect! THANK YOU Bruce!! Even though we had just a short time together, we’ll never forget you and this incredible yatai tour <3 I really can’t recommend this tour enough!

I was lucky enough to be the only person on the night I went so basically had a private tour with Bruce. He certainly proved his knowledge of the Fukuoka food scene - we were, due to unforeseen circumstances, in a different area to where we were originally due to meet but this didn't put Bruce off, we were still able to sample excellent food at a number of fantastic locations. Definitely a recommended tour.

We were picked up at the statue from our host and had a nice chat with her until reaching the premises (5 min by foot) where the experience took place. Our host kindly explained the structure of the experience and also gave us a brief history and explanation of the craft and why she has an interest in tea ceremonies. The matcha and the sweets were really good and we had a fun and interesting experience. Arigatou gozaimasu!

A wonderful tea ceremony with Chihiro and her husband in Fukuoka 🍵 We came as a couple and had an unforgettable experience with Chihiro and her husband, who warmly welcomed us and guided us through the traditional Japanese tea ceremony. Chihiro explained everything very clearly in English, making it easy to understand and follow each gesture. Both of them were kind, patient, and attentive, creating a calm and authentic atmosphere. It was a beautiful, peaceful, and meaningful introduction to Japanese culture. Thank you so much, Chihiro and your husband, for this memorable and heartfelt experience. 🙏🍵
