Directly managed by a powerful Kansai-based meat wholesaler, Gyujiro is bringing the flavors of yakiniku and the energy of Osaka to its Ohatsu Tenjin outpost — at an affordable price.

Restaurant Details

You come to Tokyo to shop, and Osaka to eat.

Nowhere displays this idea better than Gyujiro, a popular yakiniku haunt serving some of the city’s best A5-grade wagyu. Directly managed by an Osaka-based meat wholesaler with the largest distribution net in Kansai, Gyujiro’s Ohatsu Tenjin outpost proves that exceptional beef doesn’t have to break the bank — just the right palate.

Gyujiro taps into Osaka’s history as the origin and hotbed of yakiniku, introduced to the city by Korean immigrants in the 1930s. Inside the restaurant, the vibrant soul of Osaka comes alive with laughter, clinking beer glasses and gasps as beautifully marbled beef arrives, ready to be grilled tableside.

The secret to Gyujiro’s accessible yet premium wagyu lies in its direct access to high-quality female A5 Japanese Black beef, sourced whole through its exclusive wholesaler connections. Butchers break down meat slabs, transforming them into bite-sized morsels while extracting ultra-rare parts like “ramshin” (the prized center of the rump), top stripe and “ichibo.” From its meat library, popular options include the Japanese Black wagyu skirt steak and affordable A5 wagyu ribs. Each meat is sliced and paired with the restaurant’s delicious “tare” sauce. If the sight of sizzling beef doesn’t tempt you, the aroma will.

While Gyujiro respects the classics, it's not afraid to experiment. One standout dish making waves on social media is the “Three Sisters of Toro Niku Donburi,” a trio of mini rice bowls featuring low-temperature-cooked beef or steak — with egg yolk, sea urchin or salmon roe. They also have a superb selection of horumon (offal), so fresh that even those who don't like them would fall in love.

The relaxed atmosphere and spacious seating, from counter seats to tatami rooms, make it a versatile choice for any occasion. This is a true Osaka-style yakiniku experience.
