Description
Isshin is a celebrated izakaya located in the bustling area of Kokubuncho, Sendai. Known for its traditional Japanese atmosphere, the restaurant offers a serene dining experience with seating options ranging from counter seats to tatami rooms. This long-established venue is renowned for its seasonal seafood dishes and an extensive selection of local sake, primarily sourced from Miyagi Prefecture.
The culinary offerings at Isshin are a testament to meticulous preparation techniques that highlight the quality of the ingredients. Signature dishes include a three-item sashimi platter, octopus prepared in three distinct ways—sashimi, grilled, and fried—and grilled sea squirt skewers. Diners can also enjoy deep-fried tofu, squid and daikon radish stew, and a unique sea urchin rice ball. The menu is complemented by miso soup with yuba, adding a comforting touch to the meal.
Located in the basement of Jozenji Hills, Isshin is conveniently accessible from Kotodai Park Station. The restaurant's calm and refined interior makes it an ideal spot for both casual gatherings and special occasions. Reservations are highly recommended, as the staff provides detailed explanations of sake selections, enhancing the overall dining experience.
Isshin's reputation extends beyond its culinary excellence, having been used as a filming location for the TV show 'What to do for the second round?' This adds a touch of cultural significance to the dining experience, making it a must-visit for both locals and tourists alike.
