Fresh seafood and vegetables fried in the light and pleasant Kansai tempura style, at Miyagawa in Tokyo’s chic style center.

Restaurant Details

Located near the stunning, modernist Nezu Museum in eastern Omotesando, this restaurant is famous for its Kansai style tempura, which uses sunflower oil for a lighter-textured batter. The portions, however, are not so light. Miyagawa offers up generous big bowls of tempura on rice, with a whole range of different vegetables and seafood.

Isao Kanemasa is the owner, and he sources all of his seafood fresh every day. He pays close attention to the best seasonal ingredients, so you can rest assured that everything that finds its way into his fryer is fantastically fresh.

Their excellent value lunch sets are one of the best kept secrets in the city, so consider heading down for a leisurely stroll through Tokyo’s most chic shopping district, and finishing up with a meal at this small shop.
