MOTOÏ

MOTOÏ
Paris by way of Kyoto, with a brief stop in Shanghai: this Kyoto bistro combines the best of both worlds.
Restaurant Details
Paris and Kyoto both conjure an image of refinement and elegance; it’s no wonder that the styles of the two cities both fit so comfortably together. At MOTOÏ in Kyoto, French cuisine is served in an unmistakably Kyoto atmosphere — housed in a 100 year old house, and drawing upon tea ceremony in their hospitality and attention to detail.
This has proved a winning combination, as the restaurant has held a Michelin star every year since opening in 2012. Also celebrated is their ever-changing menu which cycles with the seasons, with vegetables sourced directly from the producers year round.
As for the food itself, expect French dishes with elements of Japanese and Chinese styles due to Chef Maeda’s 10 years of experience with Chinese cuisine. Take, for example, the consommé with Sichuan spice and chili oil. For a taste of France without missing out on the enchanting atmosphere of Japan’s historic capital, MOTOÏ offers an unmissable bridge between the two worlds.
