A hidden Shinsaibashi gem serving 50 kinds of kushikatsu, seasonal seafood, and Yamaguchi sake — crafted with passion and precision.

Restaurant Details

Nestled in Osaka’s vibrant Shinsaibashi district, Mukoutuku Ganyu is a hidden gem where crispy kushikatsu skewers, seasonal seafood, and carefully selected sake from Yamaguchi Prefecture come together in harmony.

The owner-chef, originally from the Mukatsuku Peninsula in Yamaguchi, trained for 12 years at the famous kushikatsu restaurant Yaekatsu in Shinsekai before opening his own establishment. His passion for craftsmanship and hospitality shines through every dish — from golden, lightly battered skewers to elegantly plated sashimi.

The menu features more than 50 types of kushikatsu, ranging from classics to creative seasonal selections. Each skewer is fried in a unique blend of three premium oils — rich beef fat, sweet rice oil, and crisp salad oil — creating a light yet flavourful coating that enhances the natural umami of every ingredient. Highlights include Chigin chikuwa, pork belly, Choshu kuro kashiwa chicken, and tilefish.

Guests can also enjoy freshly prepared sashimi platters crafted with seasonal fish, each slice tailored for the best texture and flavour. Complement your meal with one of the 15 varieties of sake personally curated by the chef from his native Yamaguchi, alongside wine, beer, and highballs.

Whether dining solo, with friends, or after a late-night event, Mukoutuku Ganyu welcomes guests until midnight in a relaxed, intimate setting. Combining Osaka’s warmth with Yamaguchi’s regional charm, it offers an authentic Japanese dining experience rooted in craftsmanship and heart.
