The nigiri at this Osaka sushiya is as mouth-watering as it is inventive, as are the appetizers cooked up by the multi-talented chef.

You’ll get the best of both worlds at this Michelin-starred sushiya (Michelin Guide 2020), where head chef Saki-san is experienced in both sushi and Kyo-ryori (the cuisine of Kyoto). This means that, before getting to the sushi, you’ll enjoy some delicious traditional fish appetizers.

The main event is an outstanding sequence of nigiri — each piece large enough to satisfy but small enough that you’ll be able to sample an even wider range. Different kinds of rice vinegar are matched to each fish variety. Atop the rice you’ll find some novel combinations such as tuna with daikon radish pickle. Sake fans who think they’ve seen it all will be happy to hear about the house signature style: hot sake served at 60 degrees Celsius, with a full matsutake mushroom floating inside!

This is the fourth location of Saki-san’s shop, and the most intimate one yet. Since achieving a Michelin star, demand has increased considerably, so be sure to reserve in advance to avoid disappointment.
