Yoshoku Wine Fritts
For hearty helpings of comfort food, look no further than this yoshoku restaurant, also the proud recipient of the Michelin Bib Gourmand award.
Restaurant Details
Yoshoku cuisine only goes back to the late 1800s, but this Japanized Western cuisine has quickly become a fixture in Japan’s food scene. Among comfort food aficionados, Yoshoku Wine Fritts is a hidden gem for deceptively simple comfort food in the glitz and glamor of Tokyo’s Ginza district.
“Fritts” comes from the French word for fried food, frites. And true to the name, everything from cutlets to seafood is liberally coated in breadcrumbs and deep-fried at low temperatures to ensure that the interior remains juicy. The owner-chef incorporates French cuisine basics to whip up dishes like macaroni au gratin and various croquettes, with the minced meat and potato being particularly common. Curry sets are a fixture on the lunch menu along with mouth-watering tonkatsu dishes. The wine selection includes white, red, and sparkling wines from Italy, Spain, France, and Japan.
As a Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurant within walking distance of Tokyo Dome, it should come as no surprise that Yoshoku Wine Fritts is a very popular lunch spot, so reservations are highly recommended.

A Ningyocho fixture, Fujiki offers a varied spread of tonkatsu cutlet offerings, but most go for their signature dish: a huge bone-in tomahawk-style pork cutlet that looks just as good as it tastes. It’s great either plain or with the house sauce.
