Yuge
Indulge in Michelin Bib Gourmand-awarded Chinese cuisine in this Nakano flower shop, with a menu that changes every day.
Restaurant Details
Since its debut in 2018, Yuge has garnered a loyal following and a Michelin Bib Gourmand award for its unexpected charm as a flower shop sharing space with a Chinese restaurant.
The handwritten menu changes daily. One visit might bring perfectly plump shrimp spring rolls, so flavorful that they don’t need a dipping sauce. The next visit, guests might feast on a heaping plate of mapo tofu, its spice balanced perfectly. Fragrant steamed mackerel swimming in a ginger soup could greet guests on the next visit. Yuge's owner and chef, Mr. Taguchi, honed his culinary skills through meticulous training with a Chinese food expert. His skill shines in making dishes that are anything but heavy or greasy.
Walking through Yuge’s entrance feels like entering a stylishly repurposed cafe. Mrs. Taguchi's vibrant flower shop welcomes visitors first, blending with the restaurant's exposed concrete and sleek finishes. By night, the workbench transforms into a standing bar. Light wood accents add warmth, while the aroma of fresh flowers leads you to delicious Chinese fare.
