We had a lovely time on our tour of the tea farm. Akito was very knowledgeable. We enjoyed learning about the tea farming practices, tasting different types of tea, and touring the factory. The beautiful drive up to the tea farm and the stunning views of the surrounding mountains was definitely a highlight.

Thank you for a memorable and relaxing experience! Akito, who came from a long line of tea farmers, made the whole thing feel so personal and authentic. Walking through the beautiful tea fields, learning how the leaves are grown and processed, and interesting tea facts gave me a whole new appreciation for tea. Akito let us try different types of tea and even taught us what gives tea its umami, astringency, sweetness and bitterness. I left with some amazing tea and a newfound respect for the craft. So glad I did the tour!

Akito is very knowledgeable and professional. He showed us a local farm and explained the leaf picking process. At the factory, he explained the tea production process. We tasted tea prepared different ways, and we gained understanding of what made the teas so different. It was a very educational and enjoyable tour. The view from the mountain was incredible!

Despite the rainy and foggy weather, Akito-san was capable to light up our day! He picked us up at the station and let us have a small tour of the tea plantation (we just discovered the Camelia plants bloom in November!) explaining all the details of the harvesting (timing, methods, etc). Later we had a tea tasting session right inside the farm were the tea leaves are dried and rolled. Akito-san explained every detail from the tea refinement process to the chemical composition and how it might influence the taste. The very informal environment made us feel like home and it was such an amazing experience thanks to our host kindness and availability. Akito-san is very knowledgeable and definitely an expert in the tea sector: he was able to answer any question we might have (and we had many...thanks for the patience!). I won’t go in the details to avoid spoilers, but everything was both delicious and interesting. If you’re into tea (or just into exploring and learning), take this opportunity to discover this remote location and what the (japanese) tea actually is. We are tea lovers and we already knew more than a thing, but it turned out that we were missing huge pieces of the picture. Totally worth the money; the landscapes, the information and the tastes will be an highlight of our 3-weeks trip. Note: Akito-san definitely speaks a very good English!

Discover Shizuoka's Vegetarian Delights

Shizuoka, a beautiful region nestled between Tokyo and Nagoya, offers an incredible range of food experiences for every kind of traveler. Those looking to indulge in vegetarian options will find themselves spoiled for choice. The region prides itself on a rich culinary tradition that extends far beyond standard fare, with many establishments offering delicious vegetarian dishes that highlight local ingredients and traditional cooking methods.

From fresh produce grown in Shizuoka's rich agricultural landscape to creative vegetarian sushi, the options are endless. Local chefs take pride in creating flavorful plant-based dishes using seasonal ingredients, often sourced from nearby farms. Whether you're a dedicated vegetarian or just looking to explore new flavors, Shizuoka offers a rich tapestry of meals that celebrate the art of vegetarian cooking the Japanese way.

Savor Authentic Japanese Tea Experiences

The food experiences in Shizuoka are not complete without indulging in the region's renowned Japanese tea. With tea plantations dotting the hillsides, Shizuoka is a paradise for tea lovers. The area is famed for its green tea, especially the deep and richly flavored Sencha and Matcha varieties. Many local tea houses and cafes offer immersive experiences where you can taste these teas and learn about the intricate processes behind their cultivation and preparation.

Imagine sipping on freshly brewed Matcha alongside a delicate vegetarian dish, both complementing each other in harmony. Such experiences not only highlight the unique taste profiles of Shizuoka's tea but also provide a deeper understanding of Japanese tea culture. You'll find tea served in traditional settings, where the pleasant aromas and flavors come alive in a serene and tranquil environment.

Unforgettable Plant-Based Experiences

Exploring Shizuoka's vegetarian and tea experiences means immersing yourself in a harmonious blend of taste and tradition. Many food tours offer a combination of visits to local markets, temples, and eateries where you can taste and learn about the Japanese approach to vegetarianism — often referred to as "shojin ryori," which is deeply rooted in Buddhist practices.

Participants can expect to find beautifully crafted sushi rolls, hearty noodle dishes, and delightful rice bowls designed for the vegetarian palate. These meals are often presented with artistic flair, making the dining experience as much a feast for the eyes as it is for the stomach. Coupled with expert-led tea tastings, these experiences provide a panoramic view of Shizuoka's culinary landscape.

Shizuoka stands out as a premier destination for those seeking to experience both vegetarian cuisine and authentic Japanese tea. With each sip and bite, visitors uncover layers of tradition, innovation, and exceptional hospitality.
