Myself, my husband, and my teenage son enjoyed this tour thoroughly. Masa-san along with two other guides were so warm and knowledgeable. It was no doubt one of our top highlights of our Japan trip. We laughed so much because everybody were so happy and had such a great sense of humor. We laughed through matcha and miso and lunch and castle and history. We learned so much and had so much fun doing it. Such a wonderful place with such kind people. I hope to come back with my daughter soon! Thank you so much Masa-san and your colleagues!!! 🙏

We enjoyed a wonderful tour visiting nishio with all the highlights such as a matcha factory tour, making matcha, visiting tea fields, traditional lunch in a traditional japenese restaurant, a miso factory and making our own miso, the castle and a japanese tea house. Masa was the best tour guide accompanied by a member of the tourism center of nishio. They were very friendly, experienced and welcoming. We learned so much about japan and all the specialities of nishio and can truly recommend booking this tour. It is a highlight of our trip to japan and we will always remember this day.

I would highly recommend this tour for anyone wanting a more personalised experience. My husband and I were travelling with our 3 young adult daughters. We are all "foodies", and my daughters are very keen on Matcha. We had looked at other tours offered in more "touristy" regions such as Kyoto and Uji. The Nishio tour was far better value for money and avoided the crowds. This took us to a region in Japan that we might not have looked at without being drawn there by the Matcha tour. This tour gives a detailed look at Matcha production from farm to finished product. It's very informative and wonderful opportunity to purchase high grade product. It also provides instruction on how to correctly make Matcha tea, with a knowledgeable teacher. The extra bonus of this tour is the visit to the Miso producer. The generations old Miso barrels and learning about its production, then being able to take the finished product home. The price of the tour also included a delicious, quality, Japanese lunch. They also managed to squeeze in some sightseeing and history of the area, with a quick museum visit and another tea and sweets in a traditional teahouse. There is so much included in this tour to mention it all. Through all of this we were expertly guided by our two welcoming, friendly, very knowledgeable local guides. They were very patient and flexible and clearly enjoyed being able to share the best of Nishio with us. We wish we had time to explore more of the Nishio region.

We had such a great time! It was just my husband and myself, but we were kept easily entertained by the guides along the way. We were taught how to drink matcha as part of a tea ceremony and then brought to a miso park and got to take miso home. Tour of the castle grounds was beautiful. All in all a wonderful experience we will recommend to all we know.

I was really impressed by this class! It is hard being vegan in Japan so it was nice to learn how many traditional dishes can easily be made vegan! Akiko is such a nice host. Very interesting to learn about all types of vegan sushi that can be made, compared to the Western World versions!

It was great spending time with Junko as she taught us how to make bento boxes. She was very accommodating and hospitable during our session. She had her helper entertain our kids for a few moments so we can focus on the making the food. The food was delicious and the experience was warm and personal. We truly felt like we were making food with someones grandma. Thanks again Junko!

Although this is described as being mainly about tea, this is really a three-part tour which starts off with the matcha experience and then goes on to a local miso producer, and finally some local history in the nearby castle. There were real friendly and knowledgeable tour guides throughout, excellent service and all necessary trips covered by taxi. The matcha experience was everything I hoped it would be. We visited the tea fields and got to try on the tea picking outfits which was a bit of fun and a nice photo op. We then learned about the production and processing of tea leaves to make matcha, got taught how to make and whisk it, drank it along with some tasty local sweets (wagashi). There was chance to purchase some to take home too. Lunch followed , cost covered by the overall price of the tour, which was tasty and tied in to the next stage which was all about miso. The miso experience was a real surprise, as a westerner I mostly knew miso from Miso Soup, but there is so much more to it. And seeing the passion of the local producers added to the magic. Finally the tour of the nearby museum and castle was a lovely relaxing close to the day with a stop at a tea house at the former Konoe residence for some more matcha and a sweet. Nishio might not be on your itinerary but I highly recommend making the trip! It's so worth it to see this little corner of Japan that has so much to offer. 🍵
