Experience Details
Finding good vegan food in Japan can be challenging, especially when ingredients and preparation methods are not always easy to spot. This private vegan sushi class in Nagoya offers a relaxed way to enjoy Japanese food with confidence, while learning practical skills you can take with you beyond the experience.
The class takes place in an authentic Japanese home in a quiet neighborhood north of Nagoya City, about a 20-minute train ride from Nagoya Station. In this hands-on session, you will learn how to prepare several styles of vegan sushi using seasonal vegetables and plant-based ingredients. The menu includes inari sushi made with sweet tofu skins, tomato and okra gunkan-style sushi, and tofu and black mushroom sushi seasoned with kelp. Your host also guides you through making properly seasoned sushi rice and a comforting bowl of miso soup prepared with vegan dashi.
After cooking, sit down together to enjoy the sushi you’ve made and talk more about plant-based cooking in Japan, including helpful tips for navigating vegan meals while traveling.
The cooking space is designed to be comfortable and welcoming. Guests may choose to cook while seated, and the home features minimal steps and handrails, making the experience suitable for senior guests and those with mobility concerns.
