At Village Cooking Class Kandy, we offer a unique opportunity to learn traditional Sri Lankan cooking in a village setting. The experience begins with a visit to a local market, where you’ll learn how to select fresh vegetables and ingredients essential to Sri Lankan cuisine. Back at the village, you’ll be guided through the preparation and cooking of authentic dishes, giving you hands-on experience in crafting a perfect Sri Lankan meal. You are welcome to join as an individual, a couple, or a group. It offers a wonderful opportunity. Our traditional cooking class is based in Kandy, and we accommodate groups of all sizes, from individuals to groups of up to 15 people. By the end, you'll have the chance to prepare a complete traditional meal. Finally, you'll enjoy tasting the delicious food. In addition, this experience includes a brief visit to a nearby village, providing you with a unique insight into local life.

The experience begins with a visit to a local market, where you’ll learn how to select fresh vegetables and ingredients essential to Sri Lankan cuisine. We provide pickup from a designated point for the market visit, ensuring a seamless experience. Back at the village, you’ll be guided through the preparation and cooking of authentic dishes, giving you hands-on experience in crafting a perfect Sri Lankan meal.In addition, this experience includes a brief visit to a nearby village, providing you with a unique insight into local life. Market Visit - We offer a market visit as part of our activity. During the visit, we guide you through the process of selecting five vegetables from a wide variety available in the market. You will also have the option to choose either chicken or fish. In addition, we provide detailed explanations about the spices and other ingredients at the market. Afterward, we return to the village to begin the cooking session. Village Cooking Class - learn traditional Sri Lankan cooking in a village setting.

Best thing you can do!

This class totally exceeded my expectations - the pickup was easy, and we cooked 9 different dishes together with careful guidance and explanation every step. We discovered vegetables we had never seen before and the results were delicious. I can say it was genuinely life-changing for me as a home cook and lover of curry. Now I know how to properly make curry at home, Lanka-style!!

Must-do experience in Sri Lanka!!!

Shyama was incredible! I would not let any of my friends visit Sri Lanka without booking this class. I learnt how to make many many dishes and she was kind, adapted the dishes to my preferences and was super helpful in booking transportation back to my hotel! I would reccommend this to absolutely everyone.

I would 100% recommend this cooking class

We had an amazing experience during this cooking class! Everything was so well organised, and we were even picked up and dropped off at our hotel, which was such a lovely touch. The cooking class was very well explained, and we learned so much about traditional Sri Lanka cuisine. We prepared around nine different dishes, and everything was absolutely delicious! An Great Cooking Experience in Sri Lanka

Had the best time at this cooking class! My friend and I took the class together and had such an amazing time. We learned so many new things, everything was explained really well, and the hostess was so nice and friendly. Best night so far in Sri Lanka! Would definitely recommend! ❤️

Great cookery experience!

Fantastic experience of cooking real Sri-Lankan food from scratch with ingredients we had never used before. It is worth a trip to the market and great detail from the tour guide about local Produce. However it was extremely busy and you get harassed by traders. The food we cooked was absolutely delicious, we made more than we were expecting. Lovely setting with outdoor wood fire and beautiful equipment. Thank you
