Learn the art of sushi making in Niigata, a region celebrated for its fresh seafood and some of Japan’s most prized rice.
In this hands-on experience, you'll make sushi from scratch using seafood sourced fresh from the local market.
Guided by a professionally trained sushi chef with more than 50 years of experience, you'll learn the techniques behind one of Japan’s most iconic dishes, from preparing the fish and shaping the rice to assembling and plating each piece.
The experience takes place in an authentic local restaurant, where you'll change into a chef’s uniform before stepping behind the counter.
As you cook, your instructor will share insights into sushi culture, traditional techniques, and the important role rice plays in Japanese cuisine, with a special focus on Niigata’s renowned rice-growing heritage.
While the chef teaches in Japanese, an accompanying guide will provide interpretation throughout the experience, ensuring you can follow each step with confidence.
By the end of the class, you'll have a deeper understanding of sushi craftsmanship and the ingredients that make Niigata one of Japan’s great food destinations.
