Experience Details
Join us for an unforgettable food and drink adventure through the vibrant heart of Osaka – Umeda!
This guided walking tour takes you through three completely different faces of Umeda: retro shopping arcades, underground izakaya alleys, and sleek high-rise districts. Visit three distinct local izakayas (Japanese pubs) and enjoy a curated food and drink experience with a friendly local guide. With Umeda Station—right next to Osaka Station—as the starting point, this tour is easy to access whether you're staying nearby or coming from Kyoto, Kobe, or Namba.
At each stop, you'll enjoy iconic Osaka dishes with drinks, while discovering corners of the city you wouldn’t find on your own.
We will visit:
1. Ohatsutenjin-dori Shopping Street
Begin your evening stroll in one of Umeda’s liveliest retro arcade streets, home to over 100 izakayas. Here, you’ll try freshly made takoyaki, one of Osaka’s signature street foods, prepared by a chef trained at a Michelin Bib Gourmand takoyaki shop. These crispy-yet-creamy octopus balls are a must-try!
2. Osaka Ekimae Buildings (Underground Izakaya Alley)
Next, dive underground into the maze-like “Umeda Dungeon,” a popular hangout spot where locals gather after work to relax and enjoy drinks. Inside the four Osaka Ekimae Buildings, you’ll discover over 100 atmospheric izakayas, bars, cafes and shops hidden beneath office towers. Enjoy authentic "kushikatsu" (deep-fried skewers), à la carte local dishes, cold drinks, and the casual, lively vibe of after-hours Osaka.
3. Osaka Station Area (Modern Craft Beer Stand)
Wrap up your evening in the lively Osaka Station area, surrounded by soaring skyscrapers and bustling department stores. Here, you’ll enjoy a glass of Japanese craft beer at a stylish beer stand located on an upper floor – a local favorite. The tour ends near the iconic Umeda Sky Building, a perfect spot to visit afterward and take in the breathtaking night view of the city.
