Experience Details

Explore a side of Osaka that most visitors never see, guided by a Japanese-Australian host or knowledgeable friend.

This award-winning food tour begins at Daikokucho Station, where you’ll set off toward the retro neighborhood of Shinsekai.

As you walk past aging houses and quiet side streets, your guide shares stories that reveal the history and character of this once-bustling area.

Your first bite will be freshly made takoyaki, the city's beloved octopus-filled street snack.

From there, you will go through the city’s back alleys for a real look at everyday Osaka before stepping into a lively entertainment district glowing with retro neon.

Vintage arcades hum, old storefronts shine with warm light, shifting the mood from nostalgic to electric.

The walk continues through streets once shaped by the yakuza and the former red-light district, where your guide offers context and anecdotes that bring the neighborhood’s past into focus. (An alternate route is available upon request.)

To end the evening (about 8:40pm) you’ll settle into a local restaurant for a comforting meal. Over shared dishes and conversation, you’ll experience the flavors and warmth that define Osaka’s food culture.
