Experience Details

If you love ramen, this hands-on experience in Kyoto’s historic Gion district is the perfect way to learn its craft from scratch.

Visit Kyoto’s famous Gion district and learn the basics of ramen making from scratch through Ramen Noodle Making Experience in Kyoto by Musoshin, a popular ramen restaurant that welcomes over 6,000 visitors every month.

Musoshin is known for its signature black ramen, made with local black sesame, Kyoto-grown rice, and regional condiments.

The restaurant has three locations in Kyoto and one in Toronto, which has been featured in Canada’s Michelin Guide.

At the workshop, you’ll learn every step of the noodle-making process from a professional ramen chef.

First, your instructor will explain how to prepare the dough using a special ramen machine.

Then, you’ll mix, knead, roll, and cut the noodles yourself under expert guidance.

You’ll discover the balance of texture and flavor that makes Musoshin’s ramen so satisfying: smooth yet perfectly chewy.

At the end of the workshop, you can sit back and enjoy a steaming bowl of ramen prepared by the restaurant’s chef.

The broth is creamy, mild, and deeply flavorful, perfectly matched with the noodles you’ve just made.

This fun, hands-on experience is suitable for travelers who love Japanese food and want to learn an authentic skill to take home. You’ll not only taste great ramen—you’ll understand the craft behind it.
