Experience Details
Japanese sweets are loved for their soft textures, gentle sweetness, and attention to detail.
In this hands-on dessert class in Fukuoka, you’ll learn how to make them in a relaxed home setting.
Guided by Sayaka, a home chef with nine years of teaching experience, you’ll prepare four traditional sweets while picking up practical tips you can use in your own kitchen.
You’ll begin with warabimochi, a soft, jelly-like treat made from special flour and coated in kinako, or roasted soybean powder. Known for its light and refreshing texture, it is especially popular during the warmer months.
Next, you’ll make nama yatsuhashi, a traditional sweet from Kyoto. This confection features thin, chewy mochi dough filled with cinnamon and sweet red bean paste.
For matcha lovers, you’ll also prepare a smooth and creamy matcha pudding. Sayaka will guide you through the process step by step, making it easy to recreate at home.
Finally, you’ll learn how to make daifuku, a classic mochi sweet filled with anko, or red bean paste.
After cooking, enjoy your freshly made sweets paired with green tea or coffee.
As you relax, you’ll have the chance to learn more about Japanese culture and everyday home cooking from your host.
