Experience Details
Begin your experience with a peaceful walk through green gardens in Setagaya, Tokyo, where the gentle rustle of leaves and fresh scents set the tone for a hands-on culinary journey.
This tranquil stroll leads to Tomokita-san’s home cooking studio.
Tomokita-san is a certified cooking instructor with a decade of experience in Thailand and five years in Mexico. She has taught international students across Japanese, Thai, Chinese, and Korean cuisines and now shares her expertise in Tokyo. Her warm, precise guidance helps guests of all skill levels feel confident and inspired in the kitchen.
In the studio, you will roll up your sleeves to make Japanese ramen and gyoza. Step by step, you will knead, shape, and fill each piece, learning techniques that bring these classic dishes to life.
As you cook, Tomokita-san shares insights into Japanese culinary traditions, highlighting seasonal ingredients and homegrown flavors.
When your ramen and gyoza are ready, enjoy the dishes you created, savoring the aromas, textures, and balanced flavors. Two seasonal vegetable appetizers, prepared with ingredients from Tomokita-san’s garden, add freshness and color to your meal.
Finish with a choice of traditional Japanese desserts, such as matcha jelly with ice cream or matcha cake, each offering subtle, smooth sweetness. Then toast your meal with a glass of homemade umeshu. This fragrant plum wine reflects the care and craftsmanship that make this experience.
This class welcomes everyone, including vegetarians and vegans, for an inclusive and memorable introduction to Japanese home cooking.
The combination of a serene garden walk, hands-on cooking, and Tomokita-san’s guidance creates a full sensory experience and a lasting connection to Japan’s culinary culture.
