We had a wonderful tour with Bruce on a wet night. While the yatai were all closed, we had the most delicious meals in two different restaurants, and some street fried chicken. An excellent Plan B! Thanks, Bruce, for a great night out in Fukuoka.

Food and atmosphere were amazing, Bruce won’t let you leave hungry. His wife tagged along and they both were super nice and taught us a lot about Fukuoka and Japan! They even adapted the tour when we told them what we already ate earlier in the day!

Knowing the city and its way of life through its food and foodways has always intrigued us in our travels. Being part of this food tour with Bruce was an excellent taster to yatai street food culture in Fukuoka. He is jovial, amicable and clearly knows and enjoys his food. We went to two yatai stalls and a coffee joint and enjoyed our evening!

Outstanding and memorable food experience. One, Bruce knows his stuff, and Hakata knows him. You should see 'em jump to attention at the Ritz when he comes in. Second, he's responsive to what the client wants but third, most important, he's got a plan B for force majeure situations. We had a great walk and enjoyed a lunch of o-den and fresh tofu prepared various ways, al fresco on the lake, authentic and all local. An experience I couldn't have had on my own. Travel is too valuable to waste putzing around, get someone who knows the territory like Bruce to take you straight to the good stuff.

We had an amazing time with Bruce and highly recommend him. It is clear that he is a foodie at heart. He thoroughly enjoys sharing his joy for food and wants to make the yatai experience more accessible to international visitors. He is also extremely personable and, thus, makes a great eating companion! It is also clear that he knows the food scene very well. For our trip, some of his favorite yatai’s were closed for the New Year, but he was able to quickly pivot to alternatives without sacrificing quality. He also provided us with recommendations for other days that we are in Kyushu, and we cannot wait to check them out. Overall, this is easily one of the highlights of our trip, and we would do it again in a heartbeat (or the next time we are in Fukuoka) :)
