We were met on time at Cora Coffee. Her class was set up nicely in her home. She spoke wonderful English and answered all our questions. She was very encouraging in our attempts and onigiri and Japanese only making ability or lack thereof. The food was wonderful. I would highly recommend this for anyone who loves Japanese food. And your breakfast is taken care of for the day.

Easy going and educational experience! Our host/sensei Ms. Yuka guided us through 5 common Nagoya region dishes. She provided some educational background on origins and differences in ingredients as well as why they are used. The class was hosted at an easy to access location as well. Would recommend!

What a wonderful experience! Everything was clearly explained and conducted in a friendly and welcoming environment. It was a real learning experience, and you got to eat your handiwork when you were finished. The host explained and demonstrated everything first and then let's you do it on your own. Very authentic and highly recommended!

Discover the Art of Vegan Teishoku Cooking in Japan

Vegan cooking classes focusing on Teishoku meals in Japan offer a unique culinary adventure for those looking to expand their cooking repertoire. Teishoku meals, known for their balanced, nutrient-rich, and visually appealing presentations, are a delightful way to experience authentic Japanese dining. In these cooking classes, you'll learn to prepare a variety of vegan substitutions for traditional dishes, ensuring that no flavor is lost, and only plant-based ingredients shine.

Teishoku is a simple yet elegant style of meal presentation, typically consisting of a main dish, rice, soup, and several side dishes, all arranged to achieve both harmony and nutrition. While traditionally Teishoku includes fish or meat, the vegan versions you'll learn in these classes replace these ingredients with fresh vegetables, tofu, and other plant-based alternatives, combining traditional Japanese techniques with modern vegan twists.

Embrace Traditional Culinary Techniques in a Vegan Way

These cooking classes are designed to teach you the fundamentals of Japanese cuisine, focusing on the preparation methods that have been passed down through generations. Under the guidance of skilled culinary instructors, you will dive into the preparation of various elements of a Teishoku meal. Learn the secrets of creating umami-rich dishes using kombu (kelp) and shiitake mushrooms as alternatives to fish-based dashi stock. Explore the creation of age-old favorites like tempura with seasonal vegetables or mastering the art of perfect miso soup using non-animal-based ingredients.

Furthermore, these classes emphasize the importance of presentation, an essential aspect of Japanese dining. You will gain insight into the art of plating, ensuring that each dish not only excites the taste buds but also pleases the eyes. Whether you are a novice or a seasoned cook, these classes will equip you with skills to recreate delicious and authentic vegan Japanese meals at home.

Create and Taste Authentic Vegan Teishoku Meals

One of the most rewarding aspects of participating in these cooking classes is the opportunity to taste the fruits of your labor. After preparing your vegan Teishoku meal, you'll sit down and relish the delicate flavors and varied textures of your creations. Savor the balance between sweet, salty, sour, and umami components that provide both satisfaction and nourishment.

Additionally, these classes cultivate a community feeling, where you can connect with fellow cooking enthusiasts and share experiences and tips. Beyond the kitchen, you'll take away not only recipes but also a deeper appreciation for Japanese culture and the effort that goes into creating its vegan versions. Whether you're looking to expand your plant-based cooking skills or enjoy Japanese cuisine in a compassionate way, these cooking classes offer an enriching experience that blends tradition with a modern twist.
