Fermented foods have long been a cornerstone of Japanese cuisine, contributing to both the culture and health of its people. In this 2-hour hands-on cooking class, you’ll explore the delicious and nutritious world of Japanese fermentation, from gut-friendly benefits to skin-enhancing properties.


Led by Naoko, a certified Grade 1 Fermented Food Expert, this class offers a blend of engaging lectures and interactive cooking. Naoko will guide you through simple yet flavorful recipes using fermented ingredients that you can easily recreate at home.


With a small group size (maximum 6 participants), you’ll receive personal attention while learning about the rich history of these foods and their wellness benefits.


This 2-hour class is designed for food lovers and curious minds alike. Whether you’re interested in improving your gut health, discovering new flavors, or exploring Japan’s wellness culture, you’ll leave with practical skills and a deeper appreciation for Japanese fermented foods.

What You Get

1 dish of chicken teriyaki (or deep-fried tofu for vegans)
1 piece each of regular size onigiri (rice ball) and natto (fermented soybeans; optional)
1 bowl of miso soup

Good To Know

  • Vegan option available with deep-fried tofu; please request when booking. Note: The kitchen will be shared with non-vegan dishes
  • Please note that the class may take place at a different kitchen location within central Tokyo. In such cases, you will be notified soon
  • Kindly inform us of any allergen restrictions during checkout
  • This experience is best suited for adults and children aged 7 and above, as the content focuses on learning and techniques. Children 7+ are charged the same as adults
  • We use a small amount of a seasoning called 'mirin' that contains alcohol. The alcohol is removed during cooking, so the dish is safe for children. However, the tasting is not suitable for children
