What a wonderful food tour! Gil, our guide had deep knowledge of all the hidden gems, stories of the locations and the food and people were great! Would highly recommend Gil and byfood for the wonderful experience!

My son & I had the best time learning how to make sushi & Wagyu beef! Chef & his assistant were professional , sincere, & humorous too! Everything looked so beautiful & tasted delicious! We highly recommend this experience!

It was a truly wonderful afternoon and evening. The tour of the workshop was very interesting. The cooking session with Akiko at the end was the perfect way to wrap things up. We were given a very warm welcome at her home. It was the absolute highlight of our entire vacation.

Yuko was a great host and taught us how to make Nerikiri in a very easy to understand manner. It was amazing that we, who had no experience in Japanese confectionery making, could make such beautiful Nerikiri!! It was a wonderful experience!! Thank you, Yuko!

This experience was an absolute highlight on our Japan trip and is a memory we will fondly look back on. Akiko-san and her brother, Taka-san, made us feel very welcomed, showed us the process of making Ramen noodles in great depth and answered every question we had. Cooking and eating our own delicious Ramen later at Akiko-san's home was the perfect ending to an already amazing day. If you want to experience authentic local culture, learn about types of ramen noodles, or just love eating great food - do yourself a favor and book this. We would do it again in a heartbeat!

Tomoko greeted us at the door and was very friendly, gracious and kind, despite that we were obviously foreign. We had a group of three and only I spoke a little Japanese . After greeting us, she took us upstairs, had a spot where we could place our belongings and saw that she had already set up three different stations for us. She asked for a group picture first-which we were happy to oblige, asked where we were from and then we jumped right in. All instructions and the entirety of the tour was in Japanese. However, we had no trouble understanding and communicating with each other. If anything, it added more to the experience and surprisingly, made it more enjoyable. There were no awkward silences or moments of confusion. Tomoko took cues from our body language and facial expressions as we did hers and it was a phenomenal experience! Portions were generous and she served cold, refreshing tea that she diligently refilled each time our glasses got close to being empty. Tomoko did everything herself. From setting up the stations to teaching and guiding the tour and breaking down each station while we were enjoying our meals. She was efficient but also attentive to our needs. At the end of our experience, she gifted us with handmade boxes made of obi and tins of ceremonial green tea. She also gave us a bonus item she called "a gift" which was a place mat she made from kimono. We loved our tour with Tomoko and I recommend everyone experience this. You will not regret it!

It was such a lovely day with Aikiko and her brother! We were made to feel so very welcome, every question was answered, and we even got to have a go at making the noodles ourselves. Visiting Aikiko at home was an unforgettable experience. Cooking the meal was great fun and it tasted absolutely delicious! I can’t recommend the ramen ‘tour’ highly enough – it’s an experience you’ll never forget!

This experience felt so personal and heartwarming. Akiko-san and her brother Taka-san show you their family factory rich in history and traditions. You then get to cook a few of Akiko's grandmother's recipes. I felt really lucky to be there and get to live this. I got to taste all the different kinds of noodles the factory made! It was incredible. The whole family was nice. It was felt so nice to have dinner, chat and laugh. Really made my time in Japan special.

I loved my experience with Yuko-San. She was a very sweet lady who wants to make sure you get the best experience possible. The cooking was pretty fast paced but it's because she wants you to have the time slow down and enjoy the sweets you made while drinking a cup of tea and chatting with her. She is interested in you and wants to know about your story. If you learn Japanese before booking this class, you will gain even more from this experience since you will able to connect with her even more. I truly think she makes the experience worth it. Amazing food tour -- regardless of whether or not you're vegan, you'll experience some excellent food. Sami was a great guide and very knowledgeable.
