Modelled after a Parisian bistro, this Yoyogi-Hachiman French restaurant claims to close at midnight, but stays open long into the morning.
Restaurant Details
Though this Yoyogi-Hachiman bistro may take its name from French nightclubs, guests won’t find dancers or singers on stage; in fact, there is no stage to be found at all.
Why “Le Cabaret” then, and not something more fitting for a bistro? The answer lies in its operating hours, which are more like a nightclub; while it claims to close at midnight, the restaurant has never once shut its doors on time. Especially on weekends, regulars and newcomers alike stay till long past closing time, gathered either at the counter — where head waiter Tsubota Yasuhiro often entertains visitors and dispenses wine recommendations — or at the outdoor tables, which further enhance the Parisian feel.
Still, ambience alone cannot earn a restaurant a Michelin Bib Gourmand — but the food at Le Cabaret will instantly erase any trace of doubt. All the French classics are expertly made here, from steak frites to duck rillettes, and even lesser-known favorites like raw Parisian mushroom salad. With over 150 types of natural wines, mainly from small-scale producers in France, diners and wine connoisseurs are likewise spoilt for choice.
Even when surrounded by complete strangers, every service at Le Cabaret feels more akin to a gathering of friends — just friends that you haven’t gotten to know yet.
