Nestled on the ninth floor of a building, Makiyaki Ginza Onodera is a hidden gem in the bustling shopping district of Ginza. The restaurant is led by head chef Keiichi Terada, whose skills derive from his experience working as a chef in Tokyo-based French restaurants — as well as studying Basque cuisine in France. Chef Terada embraces one of the oldest forms of cooking through the wood-fired grill that sits in the center of the restaurant’s open kitchen. Guests can enjoy a live experience with dishes meticulously crafted right in front of the table. The menu features dishes that blend the essences of French and Japanese cuisine together, such as their wood-fired wagyu steak. One of the popular stars on the menu includes their famous Basque-style cheesecake. We came here to celebrate my wife's birthday and had a wonderful lunch. The team surprised her with a birthday plate, which was a lovely touch. The wood fire cooking is the star of the show and everything that came off the grill was delicious. The carpaccio and the cheesecake were both standouts. Great food, great service, and highly recommended.

This is our second time dinning at Makiyaki Ginza and what another great evening. Food is fantastic and environment is amazing. The chef and his team are so welcoming and watching them prepare each dish is truly a treat. I would highly recommend this restaurant to family and friends.
