Sky-high sushi and kaiseki at the top of the Hotel East 21 Tokyo.
Restaurant Details
As one of the premier hotels in eastern Tokyo and relatively closer to Narita Airport, the Hotel East 21 Tokyo enjoys great popularity among overseas visitors to Japan’s capital city. But surprisingly, it’s just as popular among Tokyoites, particularly discerning gourmets — thanks to its traditional Japanese restaurant, Nihonryori Sazanka.
Situated on the 21st floor of the hotel, Sazanka gives diners a beautiful view of the eastern Tokyo coast, particularly the Odaiba area. The restaurant’s private rooms, meanwhile, are especially popular choices due to their views of the Tokyo Skytree. Just as delectable as the view is the cuisine: made with premium ingredients and prodigious skill, its kaiseki courses can be proud to call themselves among some of Tokyo’s best.
Secreted inside Sazanka is its own dedicated sushi counter, called Sushi Shirakawa. It’s here at this 10-seat counter that reservations are especially competitive — its lunch set is particularly well-known for being not just delicious, but affordable as well.
