Description
Good to Know
At Okonomiyaki Monjayaki Nakashou in Shinjuku Sanchome, each table is fitted with a large griddle at its centre, creating a lively and interactive dining experience.
Okonomiyaki is one of Japan’s most beloved flour-based dishes. A wheat flour batter is mixed with cabbage, pork, seafood, and other ingredients, then cooked fluffy on the griddle and finished with a special sauce, mayonnaise, and bonito flakes. At Nakashou, the staff prepare and grill each okonomiyaki for you, ensuring a freshly cooked texture and rich, savoury flavour every time.
Monjayaki, which originated in Tokyo’s downtown districts, offers a unique twist. A loose flour-and-water batter mixed with finely chopped ingredients is spread thinly on the griddle and eaten directly with small spatulas. This hands-on style makes it especially popular among international visitors. At Nakashou, guests can enjoy a wide range of monjayaki options, including the crowd favourite Mentaiko-Mochi-Cheese Monja.
With its homey yet energetic atmosphere, Nakashou is perfect for meals with friends, family, or colleagues. All-you-can-drink courses are also available, making it ideal for casual gatherings and celebrations. Just steps from Shinjuku Sanchome Station, it’s a must-visit spot to experience Japan’s flour-based food culture in a fun and accessible way.
