Restaurant Details
Tucked away in a quiet alley, far from the noisy Shijo-dori, this Kyoto kaiseki ryotei is known by locals and tourists alike. Oryori Mashita is owned by a dedicated chef who learned everything from scratch. His dishes are rich in origin and culture, incorporating seasonal ingredients that best fit the unique time of the year.
Trust that the chef knows what’s best as he offers the omakase course that switches up from time to time. Not only are the ingredients of high quality and preparation are paid attention to closely, but the presentation and aesthetics of the dishes are also on another level. One of the chef’s favorite courses is the hassun, in addition to the chimaki in summer, decorated and presented to look perfectly charming.
Each course ends with a sweet dessert, which switches around every month or so, made from the best Kyoto ingredients. Oryori Mashita is nothing if not dedicated to their craft of Kyoto kappo and their motivation to spread their love of the city to all their guests.
