Experience Details

Traditional sushi-making is painstakingly precise, but this class proves that making sushi can also be a fun and creative experience. Temari sushi are a playful, kawaii take on sushi — perfectly round rice balls decorated with colorful toppings, they are loved by adults and kids alike for their delicate presentation and fresh taste. Learn how to make them in an equally colorful and kawaii flower-themed cafe in Shinjuku! Temari is a beloved and nostalgic Japanese folk toy that originated centuries ago when thread was wrapped around scraps of leftover kimono fabric to make little balls for children to play with. With time, temari developed into more complex patterns and shapes, becoming a prized craft, and even inspiring this cute version of sushi. In this beginner-friendly, 2-hour experience, you will gain an understanding of the basics of temari sushi, and then get hands-on forming the rice balls and decorating them with precut sushi toppings. Once you finish assembling your plate, pair your freshly made meal with two drinks of your choice and enjoy it at this stylish, flower-themed cafe in Shinjuku. Healthy and delicious, temari sushi balls are a feast for all senses. After learning how to make them, steal the recipe to make them again back home (they make a delicious and fun spin on any school lunch or bento box!).
