Literally translating to “Japanese food,” washoku is the broad word that can cover both Japanese cuisine in general or any Japanese-style meal. It’s a collection of traditional Japanese food that has drawn a lot of attention from the whole world, as it’s not only delicious but also notoriously healthy. The significance of washoku is proven where it’s even been registered in UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. In this “UNESCO Recognized Washoku” Cooking Class, you’ll learn how to make delicious washoku dishes from scratch at a Tokyo kitchen studio in Yotsuya. You’ll learn how to make four different dishes, each of which only take 20 minutes to make. You’ll also learn how to make dashi from scratch, a soup stock that is a part of the foundation of most Japanese dishes, also learning how to transform this simple element into a soup. This cooking class is a great opportunity to learn about Japanese cuisine by making it yourself.
