Experience Details

Discover Miyajima’s history and local life via a two-hour walking food tour.

You'll start at Omotesando Street, where you can find shops and food stalls as you enjoy the sweet scent of momiji tempura that mixes with the briny aroma of grilled oysters. At the same time, the lively chatter of visitors and locals creates a cheerful atmosphere as you savor local street food and watch chefs prepare their specialties right before your eyes.

Next, head towards the iconic Itsukushima Shrine, which appears to float on the water. Take a moment to admire the vermillion torii gate framed by the waves.

Your guide will bring its history back to life as they share stories about the shrine's architecture, spiritual significance, and rich traditions.

Continue your exploration by stepping into Senjokaku, Toyotomi Hideyoshi’s Hall. This unfinished wooden structure offers a serene view of the coastline. Stand quietly, listen to the gentle lapping of the tide, and take in the beautiful scenery.

Throughout the tour, your guide will reveal hidden alleys and local spots that many visitors often overlook, making each street and snack feel like a small adventure. In just two hours, you'll have the chance to taste, see, and experience Miyajima in a way that will leave a lasting impression.

Your host values meaningful connections with locals and aims to share more than just historical facts and has offered tours all across Japan; from the northern island of Hokkaido to the southern paradise of Okinawa.

The tour is offered in six different languages, (English, French, Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, and Korean) so visitors can enjoy a rich, accessible experience and feel truly connected to the culture and people of the places they visit.
