Experience authentic Sri Lankan village cooking with a welcoming local family in Kandy. In a traditional village kitchen surrounded by greenery, you will prepare 8 Sri Lankan dishes using fresh ingredients, aromatic spices, coconut milk, clay pots, traditional utensils, and simple modern tools so you can recreate the recipes at home. Discover flavours from different regions of Sri Lanka while learning local cooking techniques. After the class, enjoy the meal you prepared with seasonal Sri Lankan fruits in an outdoor village-style dining hut. Hotel pickup and drop-off, dinner, bottled water, and one welcome drink are included. Choose your preferred dishes from the menu before the experience.

Discover the flavours of Sri Lanka during a hands-on village cooking class in Kandy. After pickup from your hotel, travel to a welcoming local setting surrounded by greenery and learn how to prepare a traditional Sri Lankan rice-and-curry meal using fresh vegetables, aromatic spices, coconut milk, clay pots, and traditional kitchen techniques.
With guidance from your local host, you will prepare a selection of authentic dishes such as dhal curry, coconut sambol, brinjal moju, pumpkin curry, chicken curry, fish ambulthiyal, or seasonal vegetable dishes. Vegetarian options can be arranged in advance. After cooking, sit down and enjoy the meal you prepared, accompanied by a welcome drink and dessert.
Choose the standard cooking-class option or upgrade to include a local market visit, where you can explore Sri Lankan vegetables, spices, and ingredients before the class. Hotel pickup and drop-off within the covered Kandy area are included.

We had such a lovely experience at this cooking class in Sri Lanka! From the warm welcome to the hands-on cooking, everything felt authentic. We recommend highly and our cooking teacher called Kalas was amazing.

I went for the cooking class with my son and what an experience it was! Nila,our teacher,patiently explained all the spices used in Sri Lankan cuisine.Clay pots were used .Within an hour there was an array of delicious dishes on the table.We cooked a dal, a bean curry with chillies and coconut milk (not a drop of oil was used for this),a very flavourful chicken curry with pandan and curry leaves and a dry potato dish.My son was delighted with the two coconut sambals he made.We polished it all of...read more
