Travel South from Tokyo to Kawasaki's suburbs, a residential area where you can see a completely different side of city life. Here, you’ll meet Kyoko, your friendly English-speaking host, who will introduce you to the tantalizing world of Japanese ramen. Passionate about home cooking and cultural exchange, Kyoko channels her energy, knowledge, and experience into this beginner-friendly lesson, where you'll learn how to make delicious ramen at home in the traditional way.
You’ll mix, knead and cut the noodles and finish assembling the dish using pre-made broth and toppings. Your host will teach you the secrets to making ramen the authentic way, including how to prepare char siu (marinated braised pork belly), a classic topping that adds hints of savoryness.
Once your ramen is plated and ready, sit down to enjoy it while chatting with Kyoko. She is a welcoming and friendly host who will make you feel right at home. As a souvenir, you’ll receive a written copy of the recipe to prepare again anytime you crave a comforting, homemade bowl of ramen.
After the class, you can also go to the grocery store together to continue learning about Japanese cooking.
