Enjoy a freshly made tempura lunch prepared by the restaurant chefs
Soba is thin, dense buckwheat noodles with a nutty flavor, usually served in a hot broth or dunked in a cold dipping sauce. Besides being a staple food across Japan, soba was also used as a nourishing food for the mind and body by Zen Buddhist monks as part of their training. In this unique experience, you’ll learn how to hand-craft soba noodles using buckwheat flour from Hokkaido, then enjoy them with freshly made tempura for lunch at Mondo restaurant. This door-to-door soba-making experience removes the headache of commuting so you can focus all your energy on the main event. After being picked up from a designated meeting place, you’ll be transported to Mondo (your experience location) where the kneading will begin! You’ll learn about the soba-making process from local craftsmen before trying to knead and cut soba noodles yourself (which will take roughly 1 hour). Finally, it’s time to refuel after a hard day’s work! Sit down to enjoy your handmade soba as the Mondo restaurant team prepares and serves fresh tempura with a small side dish. Once you’ve finished your meal, your taxi will pick you up and take you back to the designated meeting point. Although the Mondo Soba Restaurant and Experience welcome overseas tourists, English-language guidance can’t be guaranteed. A private English-language guide is available for an additional cost.
