We are so grateful for this experience. We wanted to make some nerikiri back at home, and we felt this was a very good and complete first step into this world. Before the class, we asked to make the sakura and momiji because we really wanted to try them, and Nariko had no problem adapting to our requests. During the class, we made five models: two chrysanthemums (the second one was really difficult), one sakura, one momiji, and one bunny, because it was Tsukimi. Although the second chrysanthemum was quite challenging, it turned out pretty good, and with a bit more practice, the small petals will surely look even better. Nariko’s explanations were very helpful — at first it seemed difficult, but we got used to it, and the nerikiri turned out quite good for our first time making them. Nariko is a really fun and kind person, and I would absolutely love to learn more from her again in the future!

We had an excellent time learning to make nerikiri with Nariko. She was well-prepared and very knowledgeable, and she was able to teach students with a variety of experience levels. It was an excellent class, and the results were both beautiful and delicious.

It was my first time making this kind of sweet. It was a bit complicated, especially the latter parts. However, Nariko-san gave us very detailed demos and informative notes for each step which helped us create and finish each Nerikiri. I recommend trying this experience out!

Huge thanks to Kaori for hosting us at her wagashi school. We learnt how to make Dango, strawberry 🍓 Daifuku and wagashi. Also had them with matcha the traditional way and hojicha tea after. She was really patient with us and we were there for 3 hrs. It was a fun activity to do with my 12yr old daughter and she thoroughly enjoyed it. Kaori also shared she does kids classes and will be teaching onigiris next. She gifted us tea and calligraphy and we could take home leftovers after the class. Can't wait to be back on our next trip. Her plc is not far from Mitaka station and is near Ghibli museum so def worth a trip if u r in the area.

Would highly recommend the Nerikiri making class with Nariko. Super experienced in the kitchen, great with people, obviously loves what she's doing. Our sweets turned out even better then expected.

The nerikiri making class with Nariko is the most fun activity we have done in Japan. The entire family loved it, from my husband and I to our 11 and 14 year olds. The class consisted of 7 people. Nariko had the dough pre-prepared, so we got to do the fun part. She is polite, patient and I am so impressed by how well structured and clear her instructions are. Looking at the beautiful examples of nerikiri Nariko made, I really did not think I would be able to make mine look anything like that, but the way she taught us helped all of us in the class create nerikiri that, although a far cry from her perfect ones, looked quite pretty! After finishing the nerikiri, Nariko taught us how to make matcha tea. Not all the formal, traditional steps, because we focussed our time on the nerikiri, but enough to get foaming matcha to drink while eating one of the nerikiri we made. It was lovely to chat with Nariko and the other students while eating dessert. My daughter has already decided she is going to make nerikiri for her birthday party when we get back home! We will be looking out for Nariko’s classes again the next time we are in Japan. Nariko, you are amazing. Thank you for a wonderful time!
