Had a great time with Emi-San and Jun-san who were patient, kind and enthusiastic hosts. This class is unique with the combination of mocktails and mochi character making. And it was basically private as there were only the two of us that I booked for. The characters were soo cute and surprisingly easy to make! They will for sure become a fun staple snack for me as someone who has trouble with gluten. Making the three mocktails instead of two was definitely worth it for the variation in flavours and possible alcoholic combinations (if that’s your speed). Super happy with this experience overall!

We were warmly welcomed by Keiko and seated in a room looking out onto a beautiful garden. She led us through the process of making sweets with red bean paste centers. We silently watched her perform the tea ceremony and enjoyed the matcha tea she made. We then had the opportunity to try tea making ourselves. We appreciated Keiko’s kindness and the history of the traditional Japanese tea ceremony.

This was such an amazing experience! If you’re into cooking, Japanese sweets, or are just looking for something fun and unique to do while you’re in Japan I’d definitely recommend booking this tea lesson with Emi. My mom and I booked a private lesson for a small extra charge, and I definitely think it was worth it. This experience is something I’ll be recommending to all family and friends who visit Tokyo.

We absolutely loved this experience. All three of us (my friend and daughter (adult-age) loved everything about it, the setting, the making of the sweets and tea, the sharing of information/history—most of all, we were so touched by the kind attention given to us by our wonderful teachers: Emiko, Junko, and Ayaka. We felt that they put so much effort preparing and during the session to ensure that we had this lovely time. We would highly recommend it!

What a joy it was to experience the Cute Character Sweets & Tea Mixology Workshop! We were a family of (4), and Emi and her teaching team greeted us with such a warm welcome. The workshop was beautifully decorated with traditional style items that added extra to the whole experience. We had so much fun cooking and creating the dumpling characters with shapes, sizes, colors and details (delicious). Then we had a lesson on how to make the most beautiful drinks, one with cherry blossoms and one with black tea and maple syrup - both were too lovely to drink... but we drank both and what delightful tastes - simply delicious. Emi and her team were the utmost polite ladies and had fun along with us as we moved through our lessons. I would highly recommend this workshop to anyone searching for the perfect treats and tea creation experience. Best of Luck to Emi and her team on continued success with their workshops.

The Mixology class was fun. Class was run by a lovely group of ladies. The drinks were colorful and yummy. They gave us a gift set at the end which I did not expect. Overall, great experience. Only one small issue was we had a trouble finding the building the class was in. A sign on the street would be very helpful.

We had a lovely time. Our host was very knowledgeable on the history of the traditional tea ceremony, she was patient and kind while teaching us how to make traditional Japanese tea sweets, and even let us try our hand at making and serving matcha and the importance of how to serve. It was an unforgettable experience.

I recently had the pleasure of attending Emiko-san's Mixology Workshop. The workshop was nicely organized and it took place in a lovely traditional room with lots of space and decorations to take photos with. I could really feel Emiko-san's knowledge and passion for tea. My favourite part was watching her demonstration on how to recreate the construction of these drinks. I felt I was in safe hands we began designing our own teas mocktails with her supervision. I give Emiko-san and her team big extra points for accommodating my gluten and dairy sensitivities! I had a wonderful time at the tea design workshop. I highly recommend it to anyone who is a big tea fan, who wants to get creative with food and is looking an activity that balances traditional and modern aspects of Japan.

Discover the Art of Japanese Tea Ceremony

The Japanese tea ceremony, also known as "Sadō", is a cultural activity that blends a serene setting, traditional practices, and unique flavors to create a memorable experience. Offering an array of vegetarian options, these experiences invite you to immerse yourself in a world where simplicity meets elegance. The art of preparing and serving Matcha, a type of powdered green tea, lies at the heart of these ceremonies. This delicate ritual is performed with meticulous attention to detail, offering a tranquil escape from the everyday hustle and a chance to appreciate the beauty of Japanese culture.

Vegetarian Delights Accompanied by Exquisite Tea

Vegetarian options have a harmonious presence in these Japanese tea ceremonies. Each ingredient is thoughtfully chosen to complement the bitter yet vibrant flavors of Matcha. Expect delicious offerings such as traditional sweets or "wagashi" made from plant-based ingredients, including rice flour, sweet bean paste, and seasonal fruits. These sweets do not only provide a pleasant contrast to the tea but also play a symbolic role, representing the changing seasons and the beauty of nature.

The selection of vegetarian snacks may also include savory delights like tofu or seaweed-based dishes, which are not only nutritious but also align with the principles of a balanced and harmonious diet. Sipping on Matcha while indulging in these vegetarian delights offers a holistic experience that nourishes your body and soul.

Explore Authentic Japanese Traditions

Participating in a tea ceremony is not just about the tea; it's about experiencing centuries-old traditions and gaining insight into Japanese philosophy. The setting is usually adorned with elements that evoke a sense of calm, such as tatami mats, sliding doors, and hanging scrolls. As you partake in this serene environment, you learn about the symbolic meanings behind each gesture and the profound respect woven into the fabric of this practice.

In these tea ceremonies, the host plays a critical role, guiding participants through each step with grace and mindfulness. From the precise movements of cleaning utensils to the mindful pouring of hot water, every aspect of the ceremony is performed deliberately and with reverence. Such experiences offer an opportunity to connect deeply with tradition, enhance your appreciation for Japanese culture, and find tranquility in the art of tea.
