Sonoko Cafe Ginza
This stylish, health-conscious cafe in Ginza aims to make diners feel beautiful inside and out with meals crafted from research-backed, oil- and additive-free cooking.
Restaurant Details
Founded in 2014 by cosmetics guru and food researcher Sonoko Suzuki, Sonoko Cafe designs its menus based on health as the root of beauty, with ingredients carefully sourced from all over Japan to uphold the founder’s health-conscious standards.
The menu satisfies a wide range of appetites and moods. Salad lovers must try the seasonal salad made with ingredients from the 300-year-old Morita Farm in Chiba Prefecture. The most popular lunch item is a low-calorie hamburger featuring additive-free, natural-yeast buns that don’t use butter or oil and low-fat beef and pork patties oven-baked to draw out their natural juiciness.
Courses also feature research-backed supplements with natural ingredients that can promote deep sleep and improve energy levels. Meanwhile, the “beauty” drink claims to brighten the skin and is enriched with ETAS, an asparagus extract that might provide health benefits akin to bathing and exercise. Guests are encouraged to drink kombu (kelp) water before their meal to stabilize blood sugar levels.
Located near the Ginza 4 Chome Intersection, this chic cafe features sofas, tables and counter seating in a sleek dark wood and cream interior. Large windows offer unimpeded views of Ginza’s streets. In the back of the cafe is a small shopping area where diners can purchase Sonoko-approved food and ingredients.
