An elegant fusion of French technique and Shizuoka’s local terroir. The booklet explaining the historical inspiration behind each dish added depth and context. I appreciated how every course reflected the region’s ingredients and identity. The pacing and storytelling were well thought out, making the meal feel cohesive and memorable. A must-try for food lovers interested in history, culture, and fine dining.

A very personal and welcoming experience that felt more like visiting locals than joining a tour. Enjoying matcha and wagashi alongside live shamisen music was a highlight. The hosts shared stories about the area that made the meal feel meaningful. The atmosphere was calm, intimate, and authentic. A lovely choice for travelers seeking cultural connection rather than typical tourist activities.

This was far more than a dinner—it was a storytelling experience through food. Each course used Shizuoka ingredients and was thoughtfully connected to the life and legacy of Tokugawa Ieyasu. The historic setting made the experience feel immersive, almost like dining inside a living museum. The chef and staff were welcoming and clearly passionate about sharing the story behind each dish. Highly recommended for travelers seeking a refined and culturally meaningful meal.

This experience combined local Shizuoka dishes with cultural elements in a warm, relaxed setting. The hosts were friendly and communicated well in English, making it easy to follow along. The shamisen performance added a special cultural touch to the meal. The food felt homemade and rooted in the region. It works especially well when paired with other nearby sightseeing.

I went on the Mount Fuji Tour with my wife. We were guided by Lauren and Alex and they were fantastic to travel with! They took us to some local traditional restaurants which were great, but the best food on the tour was at the yakisoba restaurant! We enjoyed the Mount Fuji Museum too. We didn't get to see real Fuji-San as it was raining on the day we went, sadly, but our guides were great and so were the food. We got to taste some really amazing local food and learnt a lot about the Mount Fuji Area!

Explore the Culinary Wonders of Shizuoka

Welcome to Shizuoka, a region renowned for its natural beauty and delectable cuisine. Our Shizuoka 1-Day Tours bring together the best of local food experiences, allowing you to indulge in a journey of flavors, textures, and aromas unique to this beautiful region of Japan. Perfect for food enthusiasts or anyone eager to discover the authentic tastes of Japan, these tours are designed to provide a memorable culinary adventure.

Discover Local Delicacies

Begin your culinary journey with a taste of Shizuoka’s famed tea plantations. Shizuoka is one of Japan's leading producers of green tea, and a visit to a local plantation offers a unique experience to witness the meticulous cultivation and processing of this beloved beverage. You will be able to sample various kinds of green tea, guided by an expert who explains the subtle differences and health benefits of each variety.

Our tours also take you to vibrant local markets bustling with fresh produce, seafood, and traditional snacks. Engage with local vendors and sample fish caught earlier that day at the Suruga Bay, or discover an array of traditional Japanese snacks like Oden, a popular winter dish particularly beloved in Shizuoka.

Immersive Cultural Experience

Our Shizuoka 1-Day Tours offer more than just food tasting; they present an opportunity to delve into the rich cultural tapestry of the area. Participate in hands-on cooking classes where you can learn to make local delicacies such as Shizuoka’s signature wasabi. Using wasabi grown on nearby farms, you can appreciate the vibrant taste and pungency of your own creation.

The tours often include visits to artisan craftsmen who continue the traditional methods of producing soy sauce or sake. You'll witness how age-old techniques are employed to create products with unmatched flavor profiles. Bottles of artisanal sake or soy sauce make for a perfect souvenir, offering a taste of Shizuoka long after your tour has ended.

Whether you’re meandering through picturesque tea fields or enjoying a bento lunch under the shadow of Mount Fuji, every moment on these tours is curated to enhance your appreciation of Shizuoka’s culinary landscape.
