Experience Details
Japanese Strawberry Shortcake–also known as ‘Ichigo Shortcake’–is a sweet treat that brings joy to dessert enthusiasts worldwide. This fluffy, spongy cake is a true work of art, featuring layers of airy vanilla sponge cake, velvety whipped cream, and succulent strawberries.
The Japanese version of strawberry shortcake is slightly different from what you may find in the USA, Australia, or the UK. Learn about the subtle (yet pronounced) differences in a class suitable for all skill levels–because everyone deserves dessert!
Your sweet experience will begin with an icebreaker and a brief explanation of the menu for the day, then let the shortcake-ing begin! You’ll start by making the dough and whipping the cream, before slicing the strawberries and decorating the cake. After you’ve dressed and decorated your masterpiece, your instructor will advise you on dessert photography, so you can snap some sweet memories to take home with you. Your instructor selects all ingredients used in this class, and you get to choose between a range of flavors, including matcha (green tea), cocoa, chestnut, or sakura (cherry blossom).
One bite of this enchanting dessert takes you on a sweet journey to Japan. The delicate balance of flavors is irresistible, with the soft cake providing the perfect canvas for the luscious cream and juicy berries. The vibrant red strawberries atop the cake add a pop of color that instantly catches the eye, making it a feast for both the taste buds and the senses.
Whether you’re a dessert aficionado or simply foster a sweet tooth, this class will teach you about Japanese culture and hospitality through the joy of strawberry shortcake.
