Experience Details

You may have heard of Kamakura, a charming seaside city only an hour from Tokyo. Dotted with temples and blessed with a pristine blue coastline, Kamakura has become a popular place to trade the city’s hustle for the sound of the crashing waves, explore centuries-old temples, and relish in the area's lush scenery. On this half-day private tour of Kamakura, you’ll see some of its most renowned attractions, like the Kotokuin Temple, home to the city's spiritual symbol, the Great Buddha statue. You will also hike up a local park for a picnic, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant, ride along a local scenic train line, and wrap up the day with tea and snacks at a traditional tea house. Make the most of your time in Kamakura on this half-day tour with an experienced local guide! Itinerary: -Meet your guide at the JR Kita-Kamakura Station (West Exit) and drop by a local cafe to buy a drink and a pastry. -Walk up the hill to Genjiyama Park while getting to know your guide. Relax and enjoy the chirping sound of the many local birds as you soak in the views of the city. After your climb, enjoy a coffee break at the park. -Head towards Koutokuin Temple, home of the Great Buddha of Kamakura. Known as Buddha Daibutsu in Japanese, this massive bronze Buddha, known as one of the three major Buddha in Japan, was first cast over seven centuries ago. Walk along the temple grounds and contemplate this impressive statue, perhaps Kamakura's most iconic landmark. -Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant near the temple. -Enjoy a scenic ride aboard the Enoshima Dentetsu Line train, which famously appeared in the hit anime series Slam Dunk. You will be riding from Hase Station to Wadatsuka Station, where you will enjoy tea and wagashi traditional sweets at a Japanese tea house. -Head to Kamakura Station to end the tour.
