The session begins with an introduction to tea tasting, where you'll learn techniques to appreciate tea with sensitivity. You'll enjoy the tea accompanied by traditional seasonal wagashi (Japanese sweets). At the same time, the host shares the story of the tea's origin, cultivation, and artisanal craftsmanship in a relaxed conversation, allowing you to ask questions and deepen your understanding of Japanese tea culture.
Whether you are new to tea or a seasoned enthusiast, this journey offers a quiet discovery, sensory delight, and an authentic connection to Kyoto’s rich tea traditions.
Ute is a licensed tea master of the Obaku Baisa-ryu school and a certified Japanese Tea Advisor fluent in English, German, and Japanese. With over seven years of study in the Sencha Tea Ceremony, she shares the depth and spirit of Japanese tea with clarity and warmth.
Irene is an associate tea master of the same school, fluent in English, Italian, and Japanese. Her bright, welcoming style reflects her deep love for Japanese culture and her commitment to making tea accessible to everyone.
Laure is a professional tea sommelier and yoga instructor from France. After working in a Paris tea house, she moved to Japan to immerse herself fully in the Japanese tea culture. She offers thoughtful insights into brewing, tasting, and tradition in English and French.
