Experience Details
Step into a warm, home-style kitchen in central Tokyo and meet your “Tokyo mom” for a hands-on cooking experience that feels more like visiting a local friend than joining a class.
Led by Aki, a Japanese mother of three and former backpacker, this session is all about sharing everyday Japanese home cooking, stories, and a sense of connection with guests from around the world.
In this class, you will make fresh ramen noodles completely from scratch. You will also build a deeply flavorful broth layered with umami, available in either a classic version or a fully plant-based vegan option.
Along the way, you will prepare Japanese gyoza dumplings, learning how to fold and pan-fry them until perfectly crisp.
The focus is on simple, honest cooking with no chemical seasonings or MSG, just natural ingredients and careful technique. The vegan broth highlights kombu, shiitake mushrooms, and vegetables, creating a surprisingly rich and comforting flavor.
Once everything is ready, you will sit down together and enjoy the meal you made.
Aki guides the class with warmth and humor, creating an atmosphere that feels relaxed and personal, like sharing a table at home rather than attending a formal lesson.
The class takes place in a comfortable, centrally located kitchen in Tokyo, easily accessible. It is suitable for couples, families, solo travelers, and anyone looking for a vegan-friendly ramen experience.
If you have dietary requirements, such as vegan, vegetarian, halal, or specific food allergies, you can share them when booking, and the host will do their best to accommodate them where possible.
Please note that gluten-free options are not available as both ramen and gyoza use wheat-based flour.
