Experience the warm and welcoming world of Japanese home cooking in a cozy cooking studio located near the nostalgic Yanaka area in central Tokyo. In this hands-on class, you’ll learn how to make Japanese katsu curry rice completely from scratch, making it an excellent choice for beginners and home cooks.

Yuki is a home-cooking instructor who loves preparing everyday Japanese dishes. She teaches simple washoku classics and yoshoku-style favorites, sharing the comfort of daily Japanese meals. Because she studied in the United States and has worked with international teams, she communicates easily with guests. She teaches with a friendly, global outlook.

The class will start with a short introduction to Japanese home cooking and a quick look at Tokyo’s food culture, then, you’ll start preparing your meal.

First, you’ll learn how to make curry roux using basic ingredients, without any store-bought mixes. This lets you adjust the flavor and spice level to suit your taste.

Next, you’ll move on to tonkatsu. Yuki will show you how to coat, fry, and slice the pork cutlet so it stays juicy inside and crisp outside. Chicken or tofu can be used upon request. You’ll also make a simple seasonal vegetable side dish to complete your plate.

Throughout the class, you’ll cook, taste, and learn step-by-step. Yuki shares easy explanations about Japanese food culture, everyday ingredients, and substitutions you can use back home, making the class both fun and practical.

After cooking, sit down and enjoy your homemade curry, freshly fried tonkatsu, and seasonal side dish in a warm, home-style atmosphere.
