Experience Details
Nothing pairs better with a night of bar hopping than a satisfying bowl of ramen! So, on this tour we will hop between two izakaya (Japanese-style pubs) and then cap off the night with an extra special bowl of noodles at a hidden restaurant. The first izakaya is modern, while the second is traditional, allowing you to get a feel for the variety of watering holes in Shinjuku.
There is an enormous variety of izakaya in Shinjuku, crammed into every corner. But since Shinjuku became a major tourist hub, it has become harder to find the truly authentic Japanese pubs and izakayas from among all the chain shops. Those chain izakayas may look like traditional spots from the outside, but they don’t have the tradition, history, or culinary offerings of some of the older bars.
The two izakaya bars we will visit are full of character and fantastic deals. From over 600 different Japanese bars that we have visited, these are the best! Join us on a bar hopping adventure into the nightlife of Tokyo. Don’t just visit generic bars, come along with us and we’ll show you the truly deep and local experiences hidden among the generic chains.
We’ve scored the best deals, so you can get the most bang for your buck while trying the most unique Japanese bar foods. Drinks and yakitori are less than $1 while sashimi are just $2! You can even try delicacies like sake with fugu (pufferfish) fin, sea cucumber sashimi, horse meat sashimi, chicken sashimi, and more!
The two izakaya each have their own special theme and charm. We may also end up chatting with friendly locals and restaurant staff, as they love to meet travelers and speak with us in English or Japanese.
