Experience Details
This late-afternoon walking tour offers a relaxed way to experience Shinjuku’s sights, food, and atmosphere before the evening crowds arrive.
Your journey starts by meeting your local guide near Shinjuku Station and heading to the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building. From the 45th-floor observation deck, enjoy wide views across the city.
On clear days, you may even spot Mt. Fuji, along with landmarks like Shinjuku Gyoen, Meiji Jingu Shrine, and Tokyo Skytree. It’s a calm, photo-friendly stop that sets the tone for the walk ahead.
After taking in the skyline, you’ll sit down at a long-established washoku restaurant loved by locals. A casual Japanese meal is included, with choices such as sushi, tempura, soba noodles, or tonkatsu. As you eat, your guide shares insights into the dishes and everyday dining culture in Tokyo, helping you feel more connected to what’s on your plate.
The walk continues into Kabukicho, Shinjuku’s lively entertainment district. Stop beneath the famous Godzilla Head for photos, then explore the narrow alleys of Golden Gai, known for its tiny bars and old-school charm.
A visit to Hanazono Shrine offers a quiet pause, creating a striking contrast to the surrounding neon lights. Along the way, you’ll also pass familiar Shinjuku landmarks like Isetan Shinjuku and Don Quijote.
To end the experience, enjoy a comforting bowl of tonkotsu ramen near JR Shinjuku Station East Exit. The rich pork-bone broth and springy noodles are a satisfying finish, with extra noodles available if you’re still hungry.
The tour wraps up close to the station, making it easy to continue exploring Shinjuku on your own.
