Hosted by a loving Sri Lankan family at Forest Face Lodge, our cozy homestay unit, we specialize in teaching foreigners how to prepare authentic Sri Lankan dishes using traditional techniques and fresh, local ingredients. You can learn the secrets of spices, our classes offer a memorable culinary experience that connects you to the heart of Sri Lankan culture and the warmth of our family home. During our cooking class, you'll embark on a culinary journey into the heart of Sri Lankan cuisine. Begin with selecting fresh, vibrant ingredients while learning about their importance in Sri Lankan cooking. You'll step into our traditional kitchen, guided by our experienced host ( My Mom ) with over 30 years of expertise. You'll learn to prepare a variety of authentic Sri Lankan dishes using traditional techniques, including the art of balancing aromatic spices. From grinding spices to cooking with clay pots, every step is hands-on. Finally, you'll sit down to enjoy the flavorful meal you've created. It’s more than just a cooking class—it’s an unforgettable cultural experience!

This cooking class is a MUST in Kandy!

UM. If you are a foodie and want to learn truly authentic Sri Lankan cooking, then you MUST do this cooking class with Malika. It’s about 2 hours and you learn so much about balancing flavor, different spices and how to build incredibly delicious Sri Lankan food. 10/10 would recommend!

Wonderful experience and amazing food

We just arrived in Sri Lanka and did the cooking class on our first night here. The whole family is extremely warmhearted and welcoming and we had a lot of fun exploring the different curries. It is definitely an incredible experience no one should miss! Amazing food <3

Authentic and fun cooking class!

Malika's cooking class was amazing! It was just my friend and I, so it was super chill. Malika explained everything in detail and told us which ingredients we could substitute with food we have at home. In the end we got a certificate and the recipes. Everything is also super clean and hygienic. So if you want to learn how to cook authentic Sri Lankan curries, you’re definitely at the right place! :)

100% recommend must do! The best!

What a fantastic experience and the best food we have eaten while here in Sri Lanka! Fresh ingredients, lovely place and Malika was so kind even picking us up from our accommodation. She was so generous with her time taking care so that we would follow along, learn a little more about the traditional cuisine and get involved in the cooking process ! Would 100% recommend Malika and the Forest Lodge cooking class to anyone passing through!
