Experience Details
Discover the authentic Japanese taste of homemade sushi as you make your own gorgeous patterned sushi rolls. You’ll also find out about the benefits of Koji, the essential ingredient in Japanese fermentation culture, and learn the secrets of the ingredients the Japanese use to promote health. This Japanese cooking class has quite an original feature: it starts with a Kamishibai (literally “paper drama”, a traditional style of Japanese storytelling) that introduces Japanese fermented foods produced with the use of a fungus known as Koji. This short performance helps you to understand more about essential Japanese seasonings and fermentation culture, before proceeding to the actual cooking. In this sushi art cooking class in Tokyo, you can learn how to make a well-balanced Japanese meal. Miso, soy sauce, mirin, sake, vinegar… all of these basic Japanese seasonings are used to make a full course menu. You will also have the experience of cooking rice without using a rice-cooker. Become skilled at rolling your own sushi and learn how to make beautiful, mosaic patterned sushi rolls. In addition, you will learn how to cook three different Japanese side dishes, miso soup, and a matcha dessert. You're sure to impress and surprise your guests if you showcase these dishes at your next home party!
